12:30 p.m. Responsive Prayer 2 with the Imposition of Ashes
7:00 p.m. Divine Service with the Imposition of Ashes
The Holy Season of Lent will be observed by churches around the world, beginning on Ash Wednesday, February 14. A special midday service will be held at 12:30 p.m. This 25-30 minute service of Readings and Responsive Prayer will include the ancient custom of the Imposition of Ashes. Also, a Divine Service will be celebrated the same evening at 7:00 p.m. It will likewise include the Imposition of Ashes.
Imposition of Ashes. This churchly tradition has been observed in the Western Church since the 5th Century. The ashes are not a sign of fasting, but rather a confession of our mortality and of Christ's rescuing us from death. As we are marked, we hear God's Word "You are dust, and to dust you shall return," which echoes the curse of Adam (Genesis 3:19). However, the ashes are put upon us in the shape of a cross, the means by which God has rescued us from the curse (John 3:16; Romans 5:12-21; Galatians 3:13; etc.)!
Jesus Christ has displayed His abundant grace to this congregation and to our neighbors since 1938. Relying on God's grace alone, we seek to make disciples of all within our reach, giving clear witness of our Savior's love and forgiveness through the Divine Service, study of God's holy Word, and Christian fellowship and charity.
We are a member congregation of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth... And from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:14, 16-17 (ESV)
